Capturing life's art, one frame at a time

Welcome to Dave B Photography, where every click is an artful endeavour. From a young age, I've been drawn to art and photography that stirs emotion, revealing the true feelings of a subject. This lifelong passion has driven my hobby and I'm excited to invite you to join me on this creative journey. My focus is on capturing authentic moments and unique perspectives that tell a story.

The journey began with an Olympus

My fascination with photography sparked with my dad's trusty Olympus OM1n film camera. Learning the fundamentals of composition, lighting, and subject selection, I quickly fell in love with the craft. I discovered the joy of capturing raw emotions and finding unique patterns, an artistic pursuit that has always captivated me. This foundation fuels my passion for unveiling genuine, unmasked emotions in every shot, especially within event photography.

From Olympus to Nikon

With the rise of digital cameras, it didn’t take long before I bought my first Nikon DSLR—after convincing my wife it was essential for capturing beautiful photos of our soon‑to‑arrive son. Suddenly, taking and editing images became effortless, without the long wait for film to be developed. I soon found myself bringing the camera along on family walks, days out, and gatherings. Those moments gave me real, hands‑on experience—snapping photos between carrying children up hills, helping with the BBQ at my parents’, and trying not to slow everyone down too much on family adventures.

Combining passions.

I started rock climbing in 2014 with a group of work friends and quickly fell in love with both the sport and the community around it. Combining climbing with photography has been a real joy—though my camera might disagree with all the chalk flying around. After taking photos of my son at competitions and training sessions, I began bringing my camera to his rugby matches as well. Somewhere along the way, I became the unofficial‑official photographer for both his climbing squad and his rugby team.

The journey continues

Once our daughter started at a Musical Theatre group, it wasn't long before I added another string to my photography bow, and captured the dancing, singing and acting on stage. This continued as she became involved in a local village panto, where I was asked to take the head shots for the programme, and of the performance itself.

After plenty of persuasion from my wife (badgering some may say), a couple of years ago, I began to attend Christmas Fayres and craft events, selling prints of my wildlife, flower and landscape photos.  Having had success at them, I was approached by Pinnacle Bouldering Centre to take photos for their social media. I also worked with Wellingborough Rugby Club on their 'Meet Santa' event this Christmas.

And so here we are, from a child wanting to use his dad's camera, to a dad taking photos of his children, and now entering into the world of event photography and onto what the future holds. So join me and see what we can capture and preserve for you and your loved ones.
